Operation Dawn (2012)

Operation Dawn ((トルコ語:Şafak Operasyonu)) also referred as Operation Silent Epic ((トルコ語:Sessiz Destan Operasyonu)) was an operation launched by Turkish Armed Forces against the PKK aimed at cleasing PKK separatists from Şemdinli.
==Operation details==

The operation was launched by Turkish Army backed by Turkish Air Force. It lasted 11 days and claimed to cleanse 60% of PKK separatists from Şemdinli. Remaining PKK officers have been summoned to Qandil Mountains. On 29 September government declared Şemdinli is fully controlled by Turkish forces and operations are about to move other zones. With a last effort PKK fighters tried to plant mines on roads at same day - however they failed. Mines exploded in their hands and their ripped bodies were collected by Turkish forces from the road. During this operation a female PKK leader called Ader prepered an attack on an outpost that resulted in 9 soldiers killed.〔(''Diyarbakır Söz'' Background of Operation Dawn )〕
